Ukraine Is Not Sure Russia Will Respect Easter Truce
Many people in Kyiv said they do not trust Moscow?s promise of a short ceasefire for Orthodox Easter.
Russia said it would stop fighting for a short time during Orthodox Easter. Ukraine said it was ready to answer in the same way, but many people in Kyiv did not trust the promise.
The doubt comes because the war has continued for years and earlier promises did not always hold. Reports also said Russian attacks happened shortly before the truce period.
Ukrainians want peace, but many fear that words from Moscow will not match events on the ground. That makes even a short ceasefire hard to believe.
For now, the truce is being treated as a test, not as proof that the war is close to ending.
